How many of us can relate to The Parenting Emporium co-founder Beng Feliciano? When starting out as a newlywed couple, there are so many things to consider. If you throw in making a house a home, on top of welcoming a baby, adjusting to in-laws, a new schedule, your partner’s sleeping habits, budgeting, and more, you will tend to gravitate towards what you grew up with.
In the case of Beng, she has had the luck of growing up in very well appointed quarters, thanks to Tita Virgie’s excellent taste in furniture and design. So, for Beng’s first home, shopping initially consisted of checking out what her mom would recommend or have in excess and moving those into their own home! Of course, as Tita Virgie, jokingly mentions in the video below, this did not last long and Beng learned the “tricks of the trade” from her.
Talk about #ParenthoodShared—Tita shares the basic tips of choosing quality over affordability (cheap may turn out to be expensive in the long run if it easily wears and tears), marrying functionality and beauty (what’s the point of something pretty when its use is so limited and vice versa), and making life easy by buying from a trusted brand.
Of course, at The Parenting Emporium, we believe that the above example is just one of the many ways to practice #ParenthoodShared—from encouraging a fellow mom or giving advice, to sharing your birth story or sharing your breastmilk, and even just telling others about good finds every now and then, plus so much more!
