The Parenting Emporium (TPE) Milk Sharing Hub

TPE was actually involved in milk sharing even before its official launch in July 2015. Because of our exposure to families from all walks of life, we have seen — and still see — the need to help provide expert-backed information to breastfeeding moms and breastmilk to needy babies.

It is the generosity of the breastfeeding moms in our community that keeps our Milk Sharing Hub alive. These moms’ breastmilk donations are carefully screened and pasteurized to ensure that the milk is safe and clean, especially for sick babies.

Under the Milk Sharing Hub, pasteurized breastmilk is dispensed to babies whose mothers may be unable to provide them with sufficient breastmilk for one reason or another (or, in some tragic cases, to fathers or other relatives who are left to care for the babies whose mothers have passed away).

The mothers who receive milk donations are given breastfeeding counseling and support so that they will eventually be able to provide for their own babies’ breastmilk needs.

Previous beneficiaries of the Milk Sharing Hub include victims of Typhoon Ondoy and Supertyphoon Yolanda, different hospitals and individual families who required breastmilk donations.

TPE also supports other groups and government agencies in their milk-letting programs by providing personnel and equipment whenever needed.

We hope that even more babies will be helped through the Hub, with the support of everyone in the TPE community.
